Andrew Davison is Deputy Piper to His Grace the Duke of Northumberland and Chairman of the Northumbrian Pipers’ Society. Andrew was born and brought up in Tynedale, where he still lives. Starting the pipes at the age of 15, inspired by the then Duke’s Piper Jack Armstrong and Patricia Jennings playing at Wallington, he was taught by Roland Lofthouse (himself taught by Jack Armstrong) and has spent over 45 years playing music with, and learning from, a wide range of wonderful traditional musicians across Northumberland - most notably, Joe Hutton of Coquetdale. Tunes will be played on a set of pipes made by Robert and James Reid in about 1837.
